I teach in both the graduate and undergraduate programs in Library and Information Science. Details about these and other programs I have worked with are given below.
Graduate Program in Library and Information Science
The Graduate School of Library and Information Science offers programs leading to the Master of Science degree, a Certificate of Advanced Study, and the Doctor of Philosophy degree. In its most recent ranking of LIS programs, U.S. News and World Report ranked GSLIS the top program in the nation. The GSLIS doctoral program marked the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1998, making it the oldest such program in the nation.
Undergraduate Minor in Information Technology Studies Offered by the Graduate School of Library and Information Science in cooperation with the Institute for Communications Research
The
School Media Specialist Program offers state certification and endorsements for school media personnel in Illinois.
The
LEEP distance learning scheduling option (originally called the "Library Education Experimental Program") encompasses the full Library and Information Science educational mission. Via this program, master's degree candidates without on-campus access to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are able to complete an ALA-accredited degree.
The Center for Writing Studies (CWS) was established in 1990 to facilitate teaching, research, and graduate study in all areas of writing studies. Its mission is to sustain a community of scholars in writing studies and to provide graduate students and faculty with opportunities to study various practices and discourses related to written communication. The Center consists of three programs:
- the Writers' Workshop, which provides tutorial assistance to all students;
- the Writing Across the Curriculum Program, which provides assistance to faculty members and graduate students in the teaching of writing; and
- the Cross-Disciplinary Graduate Specialization in Writing Studies, which complements the other two programs through research.
Bioengineering Program (BA minor, MA, PhD)
The Bioengineering Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign provides unique study opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students by bringing together faculty from six different colleges.
Curriculum, Technology, and Educational Reform (MA; part of Ed- OnLine)
The College of Education offers an Online Master of Education designed for practicing precollege teachers and administrators with a focus on Curriculum, Technology, and Education Reform (CTER). This online set of eight courses offers practicing teachers and school administrators a way to earn a coherent high quality Master of Education degree online, with most of the interactions through personal computers and Internet connections at home or at local schools.
