easily incorporate web content (not just through hyperlinks)
create connections, branches, loops, and other structures (useful, e.g., for multiple examples)
the above leads to a document that supports adaptation of the presentation to diverse situations (time constraints, audience interest in a topic, etc.)
Advantages (cont.)
web version and standalone version look the same
it's possible to edit the web version
control layout more directly
use favorite html editor
standards-compliant for transportability, accommodation of changes in technologies, accessibility, etc.
Disadvantages
need to know just a little html
the printable version is formatted differently from the familiar ppt
the ease of linking, branches, etc. means that someone who accesses the url for a slide show may not know exactly what was presented
legacy ppt content can be imported more easily into a new ppt presentation
there are no drawing tools, so you need to create diagrams in ppt or some other program, save them, and link to them
