The Future of Musical Notation

Year 3000:

Contemporary music has already been in place for at least 75 years by the year 2000; where composers have been experimenting with new types of composing and new ways to play traditional and invented instruments. All of a sudden a new form of popular music writing occurs in the year 2050 that does not reach the mainstream until the year 3000. The year 3000 would be a society dominated by images rather than by print. So when it came to composing new music, rather than notes on a page, a composer looks at an image (object, landscape, portrait, abstract art, etc.) and interprets those images into sounds rather than traditional western notes. Each interpretation of an image is different for each composer.
