1915 - First 3D movie airs to paying audience with 3D glasses

The world of 3D on film began back 1915 when a paying audience watched rural scenes of America and pictures of Niagra Falls. Wide release of these types of movies started in 1950s but quickly faded. Audiences had to wear 3D glasses that matched their filters with the film or TVs filter in order to produce the required effect.

2097 - Virtual helmet in Final Stages

In a striking statement, scientists at the Illinois Institute of Technology took questions from vid reporters about their new Vogon 5 helmet. Franz Rudnick, chief programmer and engineer for the project talked about the Vogon's capabilities.

"This helmet will allow a worker to sit at his or her own home and be able to virtually connect to a store, bank, or business and conduct any transactions needed for the day. Want to talk to your neighbor but it's raining out? Put on the Vogon and you two can meet. Read a book? Put the helmet on, and go to the virtual library. Need to lose weight? Go to the virtual gym, get on the stairmaster and your brain sends signals to your body making it believe it is exercising."

One reportor piped up and asked, "But professor, with a device such as this, one may never need to get up from that chair, go outside, and breathe anytype of fresh air, or flip through a real book, or eat for that matter! There will no longer be any more human contact!"

Professor Rudnick puts his hand on his heart and looked down at the reportor screen. "And there's something wrong with that??"
