The Invention of the Telescope
September 25, 1608
September 25, 1608 is the earliest record of a "certain device by means of which all things at a very great distance can be seen as if they were nearby, by looking through glasses." This record is the letter which accompained Hans Lipperhey's patent application for the telescope to the governement of Zeeland. His patent application was denied because to many people already knew about the technology and it was too important to remain a secret. However, Lipperhey is often credited with it's invention and he certainly made the telescope widely know and used.
The telescope was later used by Galeio to change the world perception of an Earth centered universe.
