Configuring Your Web Browsers to Launch a Habanero Session

You may set up your web browser so that you may launch a Habanero Session from a link on a World Wide Web page or by dragging and dropping a Session Definition or Session Replay file onto the Habanero Web application.

The instructions that follow pertain to Netscape Navigator v4.5 and Microsoft's Internet Explorer v4.5.  Other web browser setup instructions (including those for older versions than presented here) may vary.

• Open Netscape Communicator

• Click on the Edit menu, and select Preferences

• In the Category list on the left,, click on the triangle next to Navigator:

• Click on Applications

• In the middle pane, click the 'New...' button

• You will see a window resembling the following picture:

 
• In the 'Description' text field, type a descriptive label for this type, such as Habanero Web

• In the 'MIME Type' field, type application/x-habanero

• In the 'Suffixes' field, type def, hab

• In the 'Handled by' area, click Application, and then click the 'Choose' button.

• Find the NCSA Habanero folder on your hard drive, open it, and double-click on the Habanero Web application.

• Click the OK button to close the Edit Type window, and click OK to close the Preferences window.

• Open Internet Explorer

• Click on the Edit menu, and select Preferences

• In the list on the left,, click on the triangle next to Receiving Files:

 

 
 

• Click on File Helpers

• In the middle pane, click the 'Add...' button

• You will see a window resembling the following picture:

 

 
 

 
• In the 'Description' text field, type a descriptive label for this type, such as Habanero Web

• In the 'Extension' field, type def, hab

• In the 'MIME type' field, type application/x-habanero

• In the 'File Type' area, click the 'Browse...' button.

• Find the NCSA Habanero folder on your hard drive, open it, double-click on the Habanero Web application.

• Click the OK button to close the Edit File Helper window, and click OK to close the Internet Explorer Preferences window.
